Iftar BIG Dinner at Baitul Ghafoor Mosque,
Halesowen
We were privileged to be invited by Ahmadiyya Muslim
Association to their Iftar
Dinner 2026 on Saturday 7 March. Iftar dinner happens
daily through Ramadan for those who are fasting. (Iftar means 'Breaking
the Fast'). The Big Iftar dinner was so-called because people from the
community, of other faiths and none, were invited to join.
Over 70 guests including faith leaders and community
leaders enjoyed interactive
talks, Mosque tour, and the Iftar Dinner at 5.59 pm,
breaking fasting.
The Association arranged the event to highlight both the
physical and spiritual
benefits of fasting , reflecting on the importance of
global peace, and showing how
diversity brings us together, and is a source of strength,
not division.
9 guests from Quinton led by Revd.Ann Varker, joined the
event and the inter faith
fellowship. Ann , invited to sit next to the Imam, spoke about how it
was a delight to be there,
and a real privilege being able to speak with the Imam and
share a little bit of our two
faiths.
Other speakers included the Bishop of Dudley-
Rt.Revd.Martin Gorik; a Deputy
Lieutenant of the West Midlands- Adam Tickell; and
Halesowen MP – Alex Ballinger,
who is a regular visitor to our community events.
Ann reinforced the opportunity for further strengthening
relations between the
Mosque and our Church. Members of the Mosque are very active in the local
community- especially in
engaging young people – have exchanged gifts with us , and
are invited to our
Church Life community events and special Services.
