Quinton Methodist Church and the Multicultural Community Group held a Showcase on 2 August featuring the activities of the Group, and a range of local organisations. This included a local Anglican Church, a local Conservation and Allotments group , and social care groups and providers, that the Church works with.
This was an Eco Church event with our Church Project, QMC Walkers, and Forest Church, were all featured.
Minister John Cowan opened the event, Cllr Hilary Bills ( Halesowen North) spoke about working with community groups in the area, and Halesowen MP Alex Ballinger joined the event, together with Cllr Jeff Hill ( Halesowen South).
The Multicultural Group featured cultural food tasting, dance demonstration and exercise and their work in the community, and this was one of a number of community events arranged jointly between the Group and the Church.
Arising from this Eco Church themed event to enhance our Church Life, a local care home , Gower Gardens, plans to bring some of their residents to our weekly Place of Welcome; MIND are to arrange to provide discussions about Mental Health for Church groups ; we are seeking to enhance our Inclusivity in Worship through initiatives implemented at St John's Church Halesowen, and our Church Project- Caminul Felix- has expanded their contacts and potential support from other organisations.
Links with local politicians has been strengthened, paving the way for more engagement with them about our Mission, Worship, Care for Creation, and other matters of priority for the Church.
Our Church Project, Caminul Felix, was featured at the event , selling goods made in Romania to help raise funds for their response to the needs of abandoned children in that country.
